Modernized design, interactive maps and new data access for citizens
The data platform of the City of Darmstadt has been redesigned and now offers users significantly more functions , clearer navigation , and interactive maps . The platform can be accessed at datenplattform.darmstadt.de and has been technically and visually adapted to the new city website.
Mayor Hanno Benz and Digital Affairs Officer Holger Klötzner emphasize the added value for the city:
“The new data platform offers significantly more individualized display options. The map function improves clarity. The system has been modernized and, despite its expanded range of functions, contributes to budget consolidation.”
Environment, Mobility, Energy & IT – All at a glance
Three topic areas can be accessed directly via the homepage:
- Environment: Weather data, air quality, pollen count, and waste information – available for different city districts. Glass container locations are now visualized on an interactive map with fill level indicators and information on disposing of other materials such as electronic waste or used clothing.
- Mobility: In addition to the street view, a new city map also shows a network of cycle paths, public transport lines with stops, and current construction site information including the type of work and expected duration.
- Energy & IT: Diagrams showing the supply of renewable energies – now including municipal photovoltaic systems. The free "Darmstadt WiFi" network is also shown on a map, with an overview of all available hotspots in the city's districts.
Joint project for digital transparency
The platform was in cooperation with Digitalstadt Darmstadt GmbH , the EAD (municipal services department) , and COUNT+CARE GmbH & Co. KG . It is continuously being further developed to provide citizens with transparent information from municipal data sources.
