Supplement to childminding: Flexible childcare solution when childminders are unavailable
In Nauheim, the newest of what are now six "TagesKids" childcare centers in the Groß-Gerau district opened on Friday (September 5). At the new premises at Waldstraße 61a, children can now be cared for even when regular childminders are ill or unavailable. The center is run by the Regional Diaconal Service of Groß-Gerau/Rüsselsheim , which coordinates the locations.
Family-oriented childcare as a reliable supplement
The model has been in place in the district since 2012, with the first branch being established in Stockstadt. Today, further branches exist in Mörfelden-Walldorf, Bischofsheim, Groß-Gerau, Riedstadt, and Stockstadt. The aim is to guarantee the legal right to representation in case of illness, as stipulated in the German Social Code, Book VIII (SGB VIII).
At the opening in Nauheim, Lucian Lazar , head of the Regional Diaconal Service, welcomed numerous guests, including Mayor Marc Friedrich . He emphasized: "The combination of our daycare centers, supplemented by the childminders active in Nauheim, creates a good childcare solution for all needs." Faid Cekalla , daycare consultant for the municipality of Nauheim, also highlighted: "The new premises are beautifully designed and tailored to the needs of the youngest children – child-friendly, inviting, and full of opportunities for discovery."
Growing importance of child day care
The demand for childcare places has been growing for years: While 188 children were cared for by childminders in the district in 2012, this number had already risen to 404 In addition to providing cover in case of illness, the "TagesKids" support centers also connect professionals and families. According to the district, the model enjoys high recognition both nationally and within the state.
Mayor Friedrich sees the new location as an important building block: "As a family-friendly community, we welcome services that provide relief for parents close to home. With the Diaconal Service, a long-standing and reliable partner of the municipality of Nauheim is also taking over the new location."
