People with dementia should cook together and experience community
The Dementia Forum Darmstadt is looking for volunteers for the new relief service “We invite you to the table”.
A joint cooking project is planned for people with dementia and their relatives at the Memory House in Heinheimer Straße 54.
Cooking together and relieving the burden on family members
In this new program, people with dementia prepare a simple lunch together.
The volunteers provide support with household tasks, promote the independence of the participants, and create shared everyday experiences.
While cooking, family members have the opportunity to attend a discussion group and exchange ideas.
The service is scheduled to take place every two weeks. The exact day of the week will be agreed upon within the team of volunteers.
No prior knowledge required
Those interested should plan for a time slot of approximately 10 am to 2 pm, including preparation and follow-up.
No prior knowledge is necessary. What is important is patience, an interest in household tasks, and a willingness to engage with the world of people with dementia.
