Public participation for the development plan A 29.1 - Merck Nordost will start shortly
The magistrate of the science city of Darmstadt has paved the way for the construction of a new office and conference building on the northeastern edge of the Merck company site. In its meeting on May 21, 2025, the committee decided to set up the development plan A 29.1 - Merck Nordost and the early participation of the public .

Urban high point at the entrance to Arheilgen
The planned high-rise is intended to form a striking urban development start to the Arheilgen district and at the same time correspond to the historic pützerturm in the center of the Merck area. The surrounding open spaces are planned as a green transition zone between the company premises and the district.
"With the development plan, we strengthen Darmstadt as a city of science," emphasize Mayor Hanno Benz and head of planning Michael Kolmer . "We create the legal foundations for Merck to invest at the location and at the same time ensure a high -quality urban integration."
Merck site manager Matthias Bürk welcomes the decision: "The aim is to strengthen the future viability of the location and to consistently rely on sustainability if possible-with a view to microclimate, rainwater management and biodiversity." Different construction should enable a surface -friendly development.
