Inhabitant registration office offers new photo service - recommendation for small children remains a photo studio
Since May 1, 2025, only digital passport photos may be used to apply for identity cards and passports. This new regulation, which is applicable nationwide, is intended to increase security and simplify the identification process. The city administration of Griesheim is therefore now offering a photo service directly in the town hall.
In the residents' registration office, the digital photo can be easily absorbed at a machine. The costs are 6 euros, the admission is intuitively via screen guide. After the image selection, a digital signature is recorded, a password is assigned and the image is transmitted to the processing in accordance with data protection. Printings are no longer necessary.
Note for families: For babies and toddlers, the city continues to recommend going to a certified photo studio, since younger children often cannot take the necessary head posture for the machine.
A picture once recorded can be used on the same day for several documents (e.g. ID card and passport). The pictures are saved for three to six days and also deleted manually at the end of the week.
