"Me – Right in the Middle of the Groß-Gerau District" is on display in the foyer of the Groß-Gerau District Office until May 30th . The colorful and expressive works, created by people with and without disabilities, impressively demonstrate how art overcomes barriers and makes inclusion visible.
The exhibition is part of the European Day of Protest for the Equality of People with Disabilities and was jointly initiated by several institutions: the self-help contact point Groß-Gerau, the Nieder-Ramstädter Diakonie Foundation, Vitos Teilhabe gGmbH, WfB Rhein-Main eV, Lebenshilfe Kreisvereinigung Groß-Gerau eV, BASIS eV – Mainspitze and the Groß-Gerau district administration.
The exhibition was opened by First County Councillor Adil Oyan and Doreen Petri Marcus Milz provided musical accompaniment for the opening on guitar and vocals.
“The title of the exhibition perfectly encapsulates our stance: Every person belongs – regardless of limitations or abilities,” emphasized Oyan. Doreen Petri also pointed to the importance of cultural participation in line with the UN Convention on the Rights of Persons with Disabilities, which guarantees all people equal rights to cultural, social, and professional participation.
The exhibited works are available for purchase. Prices and contact information are listed directly next to each picture.
