Darmstadt fire department trains with disaster control units on 25 October
Darmstadt. To be prepared for disasters involving large numbers of casualties, the Darmstadt Fire Department the large-scale disaster preparedness exercise "Hippocrates" on Saturday, October 25, 2025. For the duration of the exercise, Virchowstraße between Frankfurter Straße and the Blütenallee roundabout from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. parallel pedestrian and cycle path also be impassable during this time.
Large-scale exercise with realistic scenarios
, increased deployments by firefighters and rescue services are expected throughout the city . The goal is to train coordinated response to a mass casualty incident decontamination , transport to hospitals , and medical care .
The exercise also involves Darmstadt hospitals in order to realistically depict entire care chain from rescue to treatment
Involvement of Medical Task Force 37
A particular focus is on training the civil protection unit Medical Task Force 37 , which is provided the Darmstadt-Dieburg District Disaster Management Agency first full-scale practical exercise of this kind for this unit.
The city asks residents to understand possible restrictions and to exercise particular caution in traffic.
