Museum calls on children and families to participate
The Hessian State Museum in Darmstadt is launching a naming competition for a special exhibition dragon.
For the upcoming special exhibition “Dragons. Myth and Reality”, a name is still being sought for the colorful poster dragon that will accompany children through the exhibition in the future.
Looking for imaginative name ideas
The exhibition opens on October 2, 2026. The museum is already calling on dragon fans of all ages to submit creative name suggestions.
The fire-breathing dragon is intended to accompany children through the exhibition and play a central role at various stations and adventures.

Special exhibition combines art and natural science
The exhibition “Dragons. Myth and Reality” runs from October 2, 2026 to January 17, 2027 at the Hessian State Museum Darmstadt.
The interdisciplinary exhibition examines dragons from art historical and scientific perspectives. On display are European and East Asian artworks from antiquity to the present day, as well as fossils, taxidermied animals, and historical scientific documents.
The exhibition will then be presented at the Schnütgen Museum from March 4th to June 6th, 2027, in cooperation with the Museum of East Asian Art.
