Open studio on August 22nd and 23rd with art, portraits and artist talk
Darmstadt artist Eva Leitschuh is celebrating a special anniversary: 20 years working in her studio at Darmstadt North Station. To mark the occasion, she will open her studio doors to visitors on Saturday, August 22nd, and Sunday, August 23rd, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.Visitors will have the opportunity to view her work, take a look behind the scenes, and experience the unique charm of the studio space above the railway tracks.
Art and Encounters at the Atelier Nordbahnhof Darmstadt
To mark the anniversary, Eva Leitschuh is opening not only her current studio, but also her two former studio spaces. On display will be cityscapes, floral oil paintings, and complex works on paper that have characterized her artistic output for many years.
Eva Leitschuh studied Visual Communication at the Mainz University of Applied Sciences. A prestigious Fulbright scholarship took her to California State University Long Beach in Los Angeles in the late 1980s, where she furthered her studies in illustration and painting. She has worked as a freelance artist since 1993.
Eva Leitschuh Darmstadt shapes the regional art scene
The painter has been a fixture of the Darmstadt art scene for many years. She is a member of the Professional Association of Visual Artists (BBK) Darmstadt-South Hesse and of GEDOK Heidelberg. She has received numerous awards for her work, including the Mühltal Art Prize. In 2018, she was nominated for the Weilburg Art Prize. That same year, the in-flight magazine of the Japanese airline All Nippon Airways featured her work in a cover story about Darmstadt. As early as 2017, she designed the Darmstadt calendar pages for the company Merck. In the spring of 2026, the Goldene Nudel Gallery in Ober-Ramstadt dedicated a retrospective exhibition to her work.
In addition to her own artistic work, Eva Leitschuh shares her knowledge as a lecturer in design theory, color, and architecture at Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences (h_da) . She also teaches figure, portrait, and still life painting in her studio.
The open studio program also invites participation: On Saturday from 2 to 3:30 p.m., Eva Leitschuh will be creating portraits of volunteers from the audience. On Sunday at 11 a.m., Sebastian Weissgerber will hold a public artist talk with the painter about her work and her anniversary.
The open studio will take place on August 22nd and 23rd, from 11 am to 5 pm, at Atelier Nordbahnhof Darmstadt .
