Zooo teacher Dr. Frank Velte explains the importance of animal colors on June 5th
Why are some animals colorful, others in single color? Why do males and females often differ in their coloring? And what role colors play in the animal kingdom? These questions are the focus of an evening lead in the Vivarium Zoo on Thursday, June 5, 2025 , at 8 p.m.
The research assistant and zoo teacher Dr. Frank Velte takes the participants on an exciting tour of the Darmstadt zoo. He explains how colors arise in animals, what biological functions they fulfill and what differences there are between species and genders - from camouflage to warning signals to partner selection.

The meeting point is at the entrance to the Vivarium Darmstadt Zoo , Schnampelweg 5. Participation takes place at the regular admission prices. Due to the limited places, registration is required on phone 06151–13 46900 .
