The district youth services department is organizing an exciting nature project for third and fourth grade classes
Exploring nature: Three primary school classes from the Groß-Gerau district spent an intensive nature weekend at the Ober-Seemen children's and youth holiday village in the Vogelsberg region as part of the "Experiencing Nature – Exploring Wilderness" by the district's youth services . This initiative has been a regular feature of the International Day for Biological Diversity for over 20 years.
Pestalozzi School in Raunheim and the Schiller School in Groß-Gerau participated . Supported by two youth workers and three external nature and biodiversity experts, the children were able bats, insects, and other small animals – using tools such as magnifying glasses and ultrasound detectors .
Understanding nature through play
In addition to targeted species research, nature education activities a key focus. These activities strengthened perception, team spirit, and an understanding of ecological relationships.
