First exhibition at the age of 14
Farid Ben Yahia was born in Tunisia in 1951 and first presented his own work at the age of 14. Since 1975, his work has been regularly featured in exhibitions both in Tunisia and abroad.
In 2003, he received first prize for painting at the "Cannes-Azur 2003" competition. According to the city of Reinheim, more than 270 artists from various countries participated.
Ben Yahia has been a prominent figure in Reinheim over the past decades, with numerous exhibitions and open studio days. Most recently, his work was featured in the 2023 exhibition "Sources" and in the 2025 exhibition "Black on White" at the Galerie im Hofgut.
Social issues in art
In his work, Ben Yahia addresses social and political issues. These include war and peace, human rights, displacement and migration, and environmental problems. He also incorporates personal experiences and observations.
The current exhibition primarily presents large-format works in oil on canvas from different decades, thus providing an overview of various phases of his artistic work.
Mayor Feick congratulated the artist on behalf of the city on his 75th birthday. Feick said that Ben Yahia, through his exhibitions, open studio days, and personal encounters, had contributed to making art accessible locally.
