Civil engineering work by Deutsche GigaNetz will not be possible until autumn 2025 at the earliest – contracts remain valid
The planned fiber optic rollout in Nauheim will be delayed. As the municipality of Nauheim and Deutsche GigaNetz GmbH announced, the collaboration with the originally contracted construction company had to be terminated. The project can only continue with a new construction partner.
“We have responded decisively to the challenges in the Nauheim construction project and restructured ourselves with a new construction partner and expanded permit applications. Unfortunately, this led to delays, which we deeply regret,” explains Holger Voßhagen, Regional Manager Central at Deutsche GigaNetz.
Progress to date
The expansion of the fiber optic network in Nauheim has been underway for approximately 1.5 years. The following have already been completed:
- Am Bahnhof street and in Heinrich-Heine-Straße ,
- as well as nearly 1,000 house connections on private properties.
Subject to approval by the municipality, the civil engineering work is now scheduled to begin no earlier than autumn 2025. The pipeline network will be built first, starting from the main distribution point; afterwards, the individual house connections can be made.
First connections from the beginning of 2026
Deutsche GigaNetz anticipates that the first customers in Nauheim will be connected to the fiber optic network at the beginning of 2026. The existing cooperation agreement and all previously signed contracts remain valid for residents. Costs will only be incurred once the home connections are activated.
Advice and information
Once the permits are granted, Deutsche GigaNetz plans to hold a construction information evening to inform local residents about the progress of the work. Until then, information is available online at deutsche-giganetz.de/nauheim .
