Civil engineering work by Deutsche GigaNetz possible from autumn 2025 at the earliest – contracts remain valid
The planned fiber optic expansion in Nauheim is coming later than expected. As announced by the municipality of Nauheim and Deutsche GigaNetz GmbH, the collaboration with the originally contracted construction company had to be terminated. The project can only continue with a new construction partner.
"We responded decisively to the challenges of the Nauheim construction project and repositioned ourselves with a new construction partner and expanded permit applications. Unfortunately, this led to delays, which we deeply regret," explains Holger Voßhagen, Central Regional Manager at Deutsche GigaNetz.
Progress so far
The expansion of the fiber optic network in Nauheim has been underway for about 1.5 years. The following have already been completed:
- the installation of two main distribution points in the street Am Bahnhof and in the Heinrich-Heine-Straße ,
- as well as almost 1,000 house connections on private properties.
Subject to municipal approval, the civil engineering work is now scheduled to begin no earlier than autumn 2025. First, the pipeline network will be built starting from the main distribution point, followed by the house connections.
First connections from the beginning of 2026
Deutsche GigaNetz expects the first customers in Nauheim to be connected to the fiber optic network in early 2026. For residents, the existing cooperation agreement and existing contracts will remain in effect. Costs will only be incurred once the home connections are activated.
Advice and information
As soon as the permits are in place, Deutsche GigaNetz plans to hold an information evening during the construction to inform residents about the progress of the work. Until then, information is available online at deutsche-giganetz.de/nauheim .
