The merged company is also accompanying SV Darmstadt 98 as the main partner of the USA trip
SV Darmstadt 98 has announced a new premium partner: the German-American merger company Focused Energy . The collaboration aims to combine top-level football and high technology from the Darmstadt region, fostering joint initiatives for innovation and future-oriented topics
A key component of the partnership is Darmstadt 98's tour of the USA in September. Focused Energy will accompany the team as the main partner. Furthermore, the cooperation includes extensive advertising space in the Merck Stadium at Böllenfalltor, TV-visible LED boards, logo placement on a mega banner, as well as hospitality and incentive services.
According to both partners, despite their different fields of activity, they share a common understanding of values. Commitment, team spirit, precision, and the will to continuously improve are fundamental principles in both professional football and cutting-edge technological research.
“Despite our completely different fields of activity, Focused Energy and we share clear values: a commitment to performance, perfect teamwork, and meticulous attention to detail. Added to this is the ambition to continuously improve. We are very much looking forward to working closely with a company that stands for progress and ambition and is therefore an excellent fit for us,” explains SV98 Vice President Volker Harr.
Managing Director Martin Kowalewski also sees many commonalities in the partnership: “With Focused Energy, we are gaining a partner who shares our commitment to further development and innovation. Football thrives on emotions, dynamism, and team spirit – just as large scientific projects thrive on precision, perseverance, and a shared vision.”
For Focused Energy, the collaboration is also a commitment to the Darmstadt location. "As a company with roots in Darmstadt, it's important for us to give something back to the region. SV Darmstadt 98 stands for unity, home, and identification – precisely the values that drive us as well," says Günter Kraft, Chief Communications & Government Relations Officer of the company. At the same time, they want to use football to engage with people who have previously had little or no contact with the topic of laser fusion.
Prof. Dr. Markus Roth, co-founder and scientific director of Focused Energy, points to the company's plans to build the world's first laser fusion power plant in Biblis by the mid-2030s. This will require not only industry and politics, but also the support of the people in the region.
Darmstadt and Texas as a common connection
In addition to its headquarters in Darmstadt, Focused Energy has another location in Austin, Texas. SV Darmstadt 98 also maintains close ties to Texas through its partnership with San Antonio FC. The upcoming pre-season tour to the USA therefore represents another element of this new cooperation.
Focused Energy was founded in 2021 by researchers from the Technical University of Darmstadt and, according to its own statements, employs around 200 scientists and engineers from more than 33 nations. The company develops technologies for energy generation through laser fusion and aims to make fusion energy industrially usable by the mid-2030s.
