A joint initiative with Dornheim schools and daycare centers sends a strong message for nature and climate protection.
Groß-Gerau/Dornheim. Last Saturday, around 200 children approximately 1,000 young trees the wooded area between Dornheim and Berkach . The event, held near the Seven Siblings Oak, focused on community, sustainability, and environmental awareness .

The proposal quickly garnered widespread support – not only from families, but also from the city of Groß-Gerau and the Waldfreunde gGmbH Atlas cedars, sessile oaks, hornbeams, and silver birches were planted on an area of approximately one hectare.
Mayor Rüddenklau: “A strong sign of community”
Groß-Gerau's mayor, Jörg Rüddenklau, opened the planting campaign and thanked all participants and supporters:
"Especially in times like these, it is important to take collective responsibility for our environment. This campaign shows how committed and connected to nature the people of Dornheim are."
Jürgen Graf also praised the families' commitment:
"It is crucial to teach children the importance of nature at an early age and to actively involve them. It is our forest and our planet – and the children experience this very directly during such activities."
Enthusiasm and support from the entire region
The organizers were overwhelmed by the large turnout and the numerous donations. As a result, around 1000 trees planted – a visible sign of active climate protection and sustainable practices.
