Live music and circus arts meet on November 13th in Darmstadt – with acrobatics, aerial artistry and improvisation
At "Goldstück meets Variety," live music and circus arts will collide on Friday, November 13, 2026, at 8:30 p.m. at the Bessunger Knabenschule in Darmstadt. The Darmstadt band Goldstück blends Balkan rhythms with funk and jazz, while regional artists improvise live to the music. The event is part of the nationwide festival "Time for Circus 2026.".
What makes this evening special is the direct interplay between music and performance art. The artists react to the sounds of the band, while conversely, the music also responds to the movements on stage. This creates a program whose course is not entirely predictable.
Gold piece meets variety show with aerial artistry and acrobatics
Gabriela Schwab Veloso and Elena Lackinger will perform aerial acrobatics, while Stella Garbe Huedo will showcase equilibristics and handstand balancing. Johanna Orlitzky will complement the program with acrobatics. Magic and comedic interludes will also be featured. Rainer Bauer will host the evening.
The band Goldstück provides a musical mix of Balkan beats, funky grooves, and jazzy sounds. Music and movement are not independent entities, but rather develop in direct interaction.
Finally, the playing area becomes a dance floor where the audience can also participate.
Part of the festival “Time for Circus 2026”
“Goldstück trifft Varieté” is part of the sixth edition of the nationwide festival “Zeit für Zirkus” (Time for Circus). The German version of the international festival “La Nuit du Cirque” presents contemporary circus arts at various locations over a weekend in November.
In addition to the artistic performances, the festival also focuses on the encounter between people. It aims to demonstrate how circus arts combine different forms of expression and create space for shared experiences.
