Resting periods of 25 years have expired – cemetery administration informs bereaved relatives
In the cemeteries of Riedstadt, the town of Büchner, will be cleared starting in calendar week 7 of February 2026. This affects all graves of deceased persons buried up to and including the year 2000
As the cemetery administration announces, lists of the affected single graves in rows posted in the display cases at the respective cemeteries in the coming weeks. For other types of graves – including family graves, children's graves, urn graves, and urn niches – it remains possible to extend the lease. Relatives are asked to contact the responsible employee, Marisa Draeger, at the town hall (telephone 06158 181-313).
Procedure of the clearing work
The clearing work will be carried out by the municipal works department. For earth graves, only the surface will be cleared. This means that gravestones, borders, and foundations will be removed.
For urn niches , the cover plates are removed and the outer urns containing the ash capsules are taken out. The ash capsules are then respectfully buried in the ground at a central location in the respective cemetery in the presence of a pastor or priest.
The outer urns and cover plates remain the property of the bereaved and can be collected from the respective cemetery upon request.
