Collection from October 19th to November 16th – appointment required
The Darmstadt Municipal Services Department (EAD) is once again offering free collection of green waste from Darmstadt households this autumn. Collection will take place from Monday, October 19th, through Monday, November 16th. An appointment must be scheduled in advance for collection.
Appointments can be arranged by telephone on 06151 13-46000 or by email to ead-hotline@darmstadt.de
Green waste must be prepared correctly
Shrubs and branches must have a maximum diameter of ten centimeters and a maximum length of two meters. Branches must be bundled with twine. Loose green waste must be placed in paper bags or cardboard boxes. The green waste must be ready for collection by 6:00 a.m. on the scheduled collection day.
Plastic bags and bundles tied with wire or plastic twine are not permitted, as these materials cannot be removed in the composting facility. Suitable larger paper bags are available at the EAD recycling center for 70 cents each. 70-liter bags can also be purchased at the district offices in Arheilgen, Eberstadt, and Wixhausen, as well as in the town hall foyer.
The EAD points out that the bags and other green waste components will only be collected during the scheduled garden waste collection. They will not be collected during the regular emptying of the organic waste bin.
Large pieces of wood can be taken to the composting plant
Wood pieces and rootstocks with a diameter of more than ten centimeters are not collected with the regular green waste collection. Like other compostable waste from Darmstadt households, they can be dropped off free of charge at the composting facility at Eckhardwiesenstraße 25. It is open Monday to Friday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m. and Saturday from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.
