Volunteer conflict resolution – applications accepted until March 15th
The city of Griesheim is currently seeking a mediator and a deputy mediator. This information was released by the city administration in a recent press statement. The application deadline is March 15, 2026.
We are looking for residents of Griesheim who are at least 30 and no more than 74 years old. Lawyers, judges, and notaries are excluded.
The city council elects the volunteer arbitrators. Their term of office is five years. Empathy, a sense of responsibility, and an interest in out-of-court conflict resolution are particularly important qualities for this honorary position.
A proven alternative to court proceedings
Arbitration boards exist in every Hessian municipality and serve to relieve the burden on the courts. Their task is to resolve disputed legal matters amicably through out-of-court mediation.
The office of lay judges looks back on a tradition of over 180 years and is considered a recognized institution for citizen-oriented conflict resolution. Their work is carried out in the premises of the city of Griesheim.
At the beginning of their term, the newly elected arbitrators are trained by the previous officeholders. In addition, the Federal Association of Arbitrators offers qualified training courses.
