The service will be led by Pastoral Assistant Dominique Humm (St. Elisabeth), Pastoral Assistant Andrea Bach (Kirche & Co.) and Ilka Friedrich, pastor for ecumenism and interreligious dialogue in the Protestant Deanery of Darmstadt.
Afterwards, there will be an opportunity to receive a personal blessing – as encouragement or to reaffirm existing vows. Guests are also invited to a glass of sparkling wine.
Valentine's Day originates from Saint Valentine, around whom numerous legends have grown. Among other things, it is said that he blessed lovers and died a martyr. His feast day falls on February 14th, a date already associated in ancient Rome with the veneration of the goddess Juno, the protector of marriage and family.
