South Hesse police raise awareness among young people about road traffic dangers
An impressive road safety event took place at the Gerhart Hauptmann School on Thursday (September 18). Around 150 students in grades 12 and 13 participated in the so-called "crash course," which was conducted by the traffic prevention unit of the South Hesse Police Headquarters in collaboration with emergency services, emergency chaplains, and other partners.
Goal: Avoid accidents
The "crash course" is specifically aimed at young drivers to reduce the number of serious traffic accidents. A live presentation featuring images, videos, and personal accounts vividly demonstrated to the young people the consequences of risky behavior on the road.
Authentic insights into the rescue chain
Representatives from the entire "rescue chain"—including fire departments, ambulance services, police, emergency chaplains, and funeral directors—reported on their personal involvement in serious accidents. Between the speeches, real accident photos, videos, and film accounts from bereaved families were shown. The event was moderated by the head of traffic prevention, Ralph Drexelius.
Conclusion of the organizers
The final conclusion was clear: If the action can prevent an accident, the effort will have been worthwhile.
