The new wooden gable ends and the roof truss are scheduled to be installed at the end of September
The town hall renovation in Griesheim is progressing. Following the demolition work and the ongoing interior work, the new wooden gable ends and the roof truss are scheduled to be installed at the end of September. This will make the changes to the town hall construction site more clearly visible from the outside for the first time.
Inside the building, new concrete staircases have already been constructed, leading from the first floor to the attic, as well as at the transition between the north and west wings in the attic. Additionally, ring beams for the new gable ends have been anchored in the masonry. According to the city, a large portion of the new interior walls has already been built.
Town hall renovation in Griesheim has been underway since 2025
The renovation of the west wing began in August 2025 with the erection of the facade scaffolding. Prior to this, a road closure and the setup of the construction site had taken place, among other things. In addition, electrical, heating, and plumbing installations were dismantled.
The work primarily affects the attic of the west wing and the staircase from the first floor to the attic. To ensure accessibility, a platform lift will also be installed in the attic.
Following the completion of this construction project, further existing rooms are to be renovated. Plans include, among other things, the renewal of the fire alarm system due to a requirement from the district building authority and the fire prevention department, as well as work on the heating system.
According to the city, the construction work is largely due to official requirements. The Griesheim city council passed the political resolution to implement the project on September 16, 2021.
