Joint meeting on June 12th regarding future cooperation with Sahle Wohnen and SEGG
The city of Griesheim is pushing ahead "Griesheimer Anger" Wednesday, June 12, 2025 , the City Planning and Construction Committee and the Economic and Finance Committee in a joint, closed session . Discussions will focus on amending the cooperation agreement with Sahle Wohnen GmbH & Co KG and concluding an urban development contract with the Griesheim Urban Development Company (SEGG) .
The contracts regulate the rights and obligations of the parties involved and form the basis for further cooperation. The contract amendment is due to changed economic conditions in the construction industry , which are impacting the project. The meeting will be held behind closed doors because the documents sensitive company data .
Public interest: City council meeting on July 3rd
Interested citizens will gain insight into the further project development at the public meeting of the city council on July 3, 2025. The contract amendments discussed in the committee meeting are to be decided there.
Background: Griesheimer Anger conversion area
The Griesheimer Anger site, covering approximately 10 hectares, lies in the southeast of the city, directly adjacent to the August Euler Airfield. It was used for military purposes by the US armed forces for decades. Since 2009, the city had been negotiating with the Federal Agency for Real Estate (BImA) regarding the future of the site. In 2020, a joint purchase with the partner Sahle Wohnen.
Since then, SEGG has been planning the urban development within the framework of a development plan in order to create a new, sustainable urban quarter in Griesheim.
