International weeks against racism: Around 200 participants set colorful signs for intercultural cohesion
The marketplace in Groß-Gerau became a colorful canvas on Wednesday, March 19, 2025: Under the motto "Color your Place", around 200 people-from children to seniors-converted the area into a work of art of diversity. In the middle of the center there was a large heart, about eight times eight meters tall, which was painted colorful and filled with creative thoughts. All around, participating signs kept up, which together formed the sentence: "Groß-Gerau shows a heart for diversity". The campaign was part of the international weeks against racism.
The social and integration office of the district town had organized the event in cooperation with the Kitas Steinstraße and Grüner Weg and the family center Groß-Gerau. The campaign made it possible for the participants to express their personal ideas of intercultural coexistence and diversity in Groß-Gerau with chalk-accompanied by the best spring weather and a peaceful atmosphere.

Dr. Christiane Eichhorn from the social and integration office was enthusiastic about the positive response: "It moved me a lot that so many people stand here for diversity and together at this time." The specially manufactured letter signs were created in the urban integration project "Coffee and Cocoa" , in which people are involved with escape and migration background.
The campaign on the market square is a successful example of the cooperation in Groß-Gerau , which is borne by numerous actors. In addition to the artistic design, the event also offered the opportunity to exchange ideas and provided a visible sign against racism and social cohesion.
