Party doubts effectiveness of large -scale measures in local public transport
The Greens' Darmstadt express criticism of the controls in local public transport carried out in the course of the Hesse -wide weapon ban. According to its own statements, the party rejects the measures as well as the green parliamentary group, which had voted against the corresponding template in the Hessian state parliament.
The Greens in particular see the control of all passengers at the stop at the stop, where travelers had to get out of buses and undergo police measures. According to the party, citizens then reported to be irritated and unsettled.
Heiko Depner, spokesman for the Green Darmstadt, expresses doubts about the meaningfulness of such missions: "The control of all passengers with a massive police force does not create any feeling of security - on the contrary: it causes irritation and uncertainty." The party appeals to the political decision -makers to implement measures with "measure and middle" and not to put entire passenger groups under general suspicion.
In addition, the proportionality of the controls is questioned. So it is possible that armed people put weapons from controls, which restricts the preventive effect. As an argument, the Greens lead a survey from Kassel, which shows that although the desire for police presence increases, the subjective feeling of uncertainty increases.
The Greens announced that this perspective also to bring this perspective into the local political debate on the prohibition on weapons at Luisenplatz. The implementation there must be specifically, proportionate and free of discrimination. A conversation with the police chief is also planned.
