The city and Evangelical University provide information about health protection in the Luisenplatz in the heat
In view of ongoing heat days, the science city of Darmstadt and the Evangelical University on Thursday, July 10, 2025 , from 1 p.m. to 6 p.m. at an action stand on Luisenplatz (Southwest corner in front of the Sparkasse) will inform about specific measures for heat provision . The event is aimed at all citizens - especially people with an increased health risk.
On site, the coordination office Healthy City , the Office for Climate Protection and Climate Adaptation as well as the network coordination of early help about the health effects of heat and about opportunities for personal provision. The campaign is supported by students from the Evangelical University , coordinated by Prof. Alexandra Rau .
Health care and protection against heat
"The climate crisis is becoming increasingly clear in Darmstadt - with an increasing number of hot days and tropical nights. With the campaign, we want to make it clear what the city is already doing for heat," explains climate protection director Michael Kolmer .
Mayor Barbara Akdeniz , responsible for health and social affairs, adds:
"The offer is aimed at all, but in particular at endangered groups such as older people, pregnant or homeless. We want to motivate health care and provide very practical help."
Activities and information at the stand
In addition to concrete tips on individual heat provision , e.g. B. through fluid intake or stays in cool locations, the action stand also offers hands -on activities for young and old .
