Kindergarten children chose Alexander Steffensmeier as the winner of the Darmstadt picture book competition
Children's book author Alexander Steffensmeier was awarded the "Heinerchen 2025" "Lieselotte in the Rain" at Darmstadt's Central Station .
Among the guests were the children from the municipal daycare center Meißnerweg , who presented Steffensmeier with the certificate. Afterwards, they drew lots for new book bags, which were raffled off to daycare centers.
Children's jury from 28 Darmstadt daycare centers
A total of 28 daycare centers in Darmstadt participated in the competition. Ten selected picture books were read aloud, browsed, admired, and discussed. At the end, the children voted for their favorite book – the clear winner was . "
Promote enjoyment of language and literature
Mayor Barbara Akdeniz emphasized the importance of such projects:
"This is a fantastic experience for the children: They are on stage, part of a big celebration, and can demonstrate how important their opinions are. Such experiences strengthen self-confidence, the joy of language and literature – and are long-lasting memories."
