Hessenslam 2025: Literary final in Friedrichsdorf delights audience
FRIEDRICHSDORF – Tim Kuppler is the new Hessian Poetry Slam champion. At the grand final of the Hessian Slam 2025 individual championships in the Forum Friedrichsdorf on Thursday evening, he prevailed against strong competition and impressed with a mix of humor and social commentary.
Strong final round with four poets
Around 100 guests attended the literary final, for which eight poets had qualified from the semi-finals in Oberursel and Bad Homburg. Lena Duve, Jessica Davis, Johanna Schubert, and Tim Kuppler ultimately made it to the final round. While Lena and Jessica impressed with very personal texts, and Johanna Schubert spoke about her first experiences with love and sexuality, Kuppler scored points with ten absurd apocalyptic stories – pointed, witty, and thought-provoking all at once.

In the end, it was Kuppler who most captivated the audience and secured the Hessian championship title. Together with the three other finalists, he will compete at the German-language Poetry Slam Championships in Chemnitz at the end of October.
Supporting program with music and featured artists
The final was hosted by Katharina Marosz and Sebastian Hauf. Musical guest Eddy Zinn entertained the audience with his own songs. Jan Cönig, the 2024 Hessian champion, also appeared as a featured artist and opened the evening with a humorous performance.
