Funding associations and city call for support for Carlo-Mierendorff and Friedrich-Ebert-Schule
Under the patronage of Mayor Geta Krebs-Wetzl, the city of Griesheim, the support associations as well as the school management of the Carlo-Mierendorff School and the Friedrich-Ebert-Schule have started a joint call for donations. The aim is to continue the proven homework aids at both primary schools beyond the current school year.
The measure is aimed at primary school children who have no access to institutional care offers and have an increased language or social support requirement. In close cooperation between schools, city and support associations, low -threshold learning format was established: small groups, reliable caregivers, regular accompaniment - directly at the schools on site.
Promotion secured - but only for the first half of the year
The financing was originally borne by the Darmstadt-Dieburg district for several years. After this support has been stopped, city and support associations, together with a temporary solution, secure the continuation of the offer. Thanks to a successful funding application to the Darmstadt-Dieburg social foundation, 4,000 euros are available per school for the first school year 2025/2026. Further commitments - for example from the Schiefertafel Foundation - complement the financing.
Mayor calls for support
"This commitment to educational justice and participation earns our full support," said Mayor Geta Krebs-Wetzl. "I would like to thank everyone involved and call up the Griesheim citizens to take responsibility together."
The youth promotion of the city of Griesheim is a bearer of the measure and provides the pedagogical staff via contractually regulated voluntary allowances. The donations are used exclusively to finance these fee forces.
This is how it can be helped
The sponsoring associations of the two schools coordinate the donation process and issue grant confirmations on request. Donations flow into the “Homework aid CMS/FES” project.
