Local authorities alarmed by increasing deposits along the old Riedbahn railway line
Weiterstadt/Griesheim. Between Gehaborner Weg and the A5 motorway , along the old Riedbahn railway line, there has been a recent increase in illegal waste disposal cycle and footpath is particularly affected . Unknown individuals repeatedly drive vehicles into the area without permission and dump building materials, wood scraps, and tiles – right in the middle of nature.

Costs and environmental impact increase
The municipalities of Weiterstadt and Griesheim , which share the area, are facing a growing problem. Disposing of the waste is not only time-consuming but also incurs considerable costs that must be borne by taxpayers.
"We are baffled and frustrated," say the responsible authorities. "The perpetrators are acting with appalling audacity."
Not a trivial offense – heavy fines are possible
Illegal waste disposal is an administrative offense by substantial fines . Authorities urge the public to report any suspicious activity and to take responsibility for the environment
Danger to nature and recreation
The dumping of waste not only endangers biodiversity but also impairs the recreational function of the forest for walkers and cyclists. Animals and plants, in particular, suffer from the pollutants that can leach into the soil from construction and plastic waste.
Municipalities are planning countermeasures
The cities are currently examining additional monitoring and awareness-raising measures to prevent further dumping. One thing is clear: this trash does not belong in the forest.
