Gerhard Abendschein succeeds Ursula Schwarz – Commitment to participation and involvement
Darmstadt. The advocacy group for older people in the Science City of Darmstadt Ursula Schwarz stepped down from the executive committee. The new election took place during the general assembly.
Gerhard Abendschein , who ran for the SPD party was elected as the new chairman . He previously served as a deputy member of the board and is also involved in the support association and the lunch program for senior citizens in Kranichstein Gabriele Beckers from the Green Party was newly elected as deputy chairman . She is also active Hofgut Oberfeld
Rainer Kumme (CDU) and Dr. Dierk Molter (FDP) remain the two secretaries , who support the new board in its work.
Commitment to the concerns of older citizens
"Especially at the municipal level, it's important that older people have a say and can help shape things," emphasized the new chairman, Gerhard Abendschein, after the election. "Over the next two years, we want to work to ensure that the needs of older citizens in Darmstadt are heard and taken into account – be it in matters of mobility, socializing, or everyday care."
The advocacy group sees itself as a link between older people and the city administration . It brings concerns into municipal decision-making processes, promotes exchange, and works with local partners on projects promoting an active and independent life in old age in Darmstadt.
