Academic ceremony and large summer festival honor three decades of educational work in Riedstadt-Erfelden
The Thomas-Mann-Platz daycare center in Riedstadt-Erfelden celebrated its 30th anniversary with an academic ceremony and a large summer games festival. Over two days, staff, families, and guests looked back on the history of the institution and celebrated the anniversary together.
The event kicked off on Friday with an academic ceremony. Kindergarten director Rebecca Jäger, together with her long-time colleague Kerstin Zimolong and former director Eva Steinbach, led the audience through the history of the institution. Personal anecdotes from three decades provided an entertaining retrospective before the focus shifted to the current pedagogical practices.
The focus was on the development of the facility into a daycare center where children's rights and participation are firmly anchored. According to the daycare center, these values have shaped its educational work for many years and will continue to play an important role in the future.
New logo developed in collaboration with families
Department head Rick Hölzer and his deputy Sonja Dorsch thanked Rebecca Jäger and her team for their dedication. Dorothee Heil, chair of the parents' council, also praised the staff's work and invited everyone to the family celebration the following day.
A special highlight of the program was the unveiling of the new daycare logo. Families were able to actively participate in its design beforehand. After a joint selection process, Corinna Lenzer's design was chosen.
Afterwards, many guests took the opportunity to visit the educational facilities and to learn about the institution's pedagogical priorities at information stands.

Games, cake and ice cream at the summer festival
The anniversary celebrations continued on Saturday with a large family festival. After a welcome address by kindergarten director Rebecca Jäger, the program included birthday cake, a joint serenade, and numerous games and activities.
In the shaded outdoor area, children enjoyed activities such as sack races, egg-and-spoon races, and painting flowerpots. Those who completed all the activities were rewarded with ice cream. A raffle also provided additional entertainment.
Food and drink were also provided. In addition to a wide selection of beverages and homemade cakes, hot dogs were offered that could be individually topped.
Thanks to the commitment of the daycare team, the parents' council and many other helpers, the anniversary weekend became a successful celebration for the entire daycare community.
