Historical bathroom convinces with a well -groomed ambience and high acceptance
The municipal outdoor pool Groß-Gerau has successfully started the 2025 summer season. After a rather cool May, the second half of June brought a significant increase in visitors with high summer weather. By July 1, 19,580 guests counted - more than twice as many as in the previous year (7,900). The day -strongest day was 22 June with 2,062 bathers.
Listed diving tower and well -kept lawn
Since its opening in 1937, the outdoor pool has not only been a place of relaxation, but also an integral part of city history. The historic renovation of the striking ten-meter jumping tower was completed in 2023. This year there was an optical upgrading of the swimmer pool with around 450 kilograms of special color. The lawn was also embellished by targeted tree care measures - the old trees ensure natural shadows and a special ambience.
"The outdoor pool is not just a place of encounter - it is a piece of city history," explains Mayor Jörg Rüddenklau . The combination of historical architecture, modern care and family atmosphere makes the bathroom a popular meeting place.
Inexpensive and popular: 650 season tickets sold
The offer also remains family -friendly: around 650 season tickets have been sold so far - a stable level compared to the previous year. Many regular guests use the bathroom regardless of the weather, others enjoy the full offer when sunshine.
Skills shortage in the pool area
The personnel situation is less pleasant. Four of seven positions for specialists are currently vacant. There is also a need for the lifeguards. The existing team is currently supported by external forces to maintain bathing operations.
Safety service on weekends in action
Due to increased incidents in bathrooms from other cities, Groß-Gerau also relies on safety: On weekends, an external security service supports the outdoor pool team-especially on the lawn.
project manager Kai Steueragel is confident:
"Swimming is a general interest. Especially in times of increasing heat periods, we need places such as this - for health, relaxation and community."
