Talks and readings with W. Christian Schmitt and the “Trio infernale”
The Society of Hessian Literature Lovers invites you to two literary events at the Darmstadt Literature House on Kasinostraße in April. The program includes an evening discussion with journalist and author W. Christian Schmitt and a reading by the literary group Poseidon.
W. Christian Schmitt on the literary public sphere
Under the title “Literary Public Sphere in Transition”, W. Christian Schmitt will speak about his experiences in the literary world Wednesday, April 15, 2026, at 7 p.m.

For more than five decades, Schmitt has worked as an editor, critic, author, columnist, moderator, and organizer of cultural events. The occasion for this evening is the publication of his new memoir, "Homecoming to Darmstadt?" , in which he recounts encounters and experiences from his journalistic work in Darmstadt. The discussion will also address changes in the literary and publishing industry, as well as the evolution of the literary public sphere in the age of digital media.
“Trio infernale” presents new band
On Monday, April 20, 2026, at 7 p.m., three members of the literary group Poseidon will present their first collaborative volume. Titled "Trio infernale," Tom Wolff, Alex Dreppec, and PH Gruner will present a collection of poems, short texts, and satirical pieces.
The three authors address the absurdities and challenges of the present in their texts, each in their own way. Their contributions are linked by a blend of humor, critique, and literary experimentation.
The evening will be moderated and musically accompanied by Johannes Breckner.
admission free
Admission to both events is free. The venue is the Literaturhaus Darmstadt at Kasinostraße 3.
