The goalkeeper will remain with the Lilies long-term
As the club announced in a press release on Thursday, February 20th, goalkeeper Marcel Schuhen has extended his contract with SV Darmstadt 98. The 32-year-old will therefore remain with the Lilies.
Important leader for SV 98
Sporting director Paul Fernie emphasizes Schuhen's importance to the team:
"Schuh has been an important part of this team for years, not only on but also off the pitch. He is a very ambitious and honest character who embodies the club's values and fulfills his role as one of the leaders. He also demonstrates a great willingness to constantly learn and improve in his daily work, which is reflected in his performances this season. We are therefore delighted that we will continue to work together in the future."

Marcel Schuhen is also pleased with his contract extension:
“I had very good talks with Paul and Flo and am absolutely convinced by the sporting direction and the path taken. In addition, my family feels extremely at home here and both my children were born in Darmstadt. It was therefore a sporting decision, but also one of the heart. I look forward to remaining a part of this special club.”
Goalkeeper for the Lilies since 2019
Marcel Schuhen from SV Sandhausen in July 2019. Since then, the 32-year-old goalkeeper 184 competitive appearances for the Lilies. In the current second division season, he has started in all league matches and two cup games .
