A new forum on September 29th offers workshops, interactive activities and exchange for all generations
The Darmstadt Media Center is hosting its first "Media Radar – Media Education Forum" on Tuesday, September 29, 2026. From 3 p.m. to 6 p.m., more than 30 institutions and organizations involved in media education and media literacy will present themselves at the M2 building in Bürgerpark. Participation is free, and registration is not required.
The new format is not only aimed at experts. Children and young people, parents, teachers, educational professionals, interested adults and senior citizens are also invited.
More than 30 institutions are participating
The forum aims to showcase existing media literacy programs in Darmstadt and foster exchange between participating institutions. Among those who have confirmed their participation are the Hessian Teacher Training Academy, the Youth Welfare Office, the Darmstadt Adult Education Center, the City Library, the House of Digital Media Education, the Technical University of Darmstadt, and the Darmstadt University of Applied Sciences.
Also involved are the State School Authority, the South Hesse Police Headquarters, the Hessian Media Authority, the Hessian State Center for Political Education, the Chaos Computer Club Darmstadt, the Office for Media Education, Pro Familia Darmstadt and the City Parents' Council.
Workshops and eSports show match
The event will kick off with a lecture by Prof. Dr. Petra Grell. This will be followed by workshops and hands-on activities. An eSports exhibition match and a discussion forum with experts on current topics in media literacy are also planned
The focus is on media literacy in different phases of life – from offers for children and young people to work in schools and other educational institutions, to topics for parents and older people.
The event is organized by the Darmstadt Media Center, the municipal institution for media education. Among other things, it supports schools and educational institutions in teaching media literacy.
Participation is free
The “Media Radar – Media Education Forum” will take place on September 29th from 3 pm to 6 pm in the M2 at Bürgerpark, Alsfelder Straße 23 in Darmstadt.
Participation is free. Prior registration is optional, but according to the organizer, it facilitates planning. Registered participants will also receive information and reminders about the event in advance.
