After a two-year renovation break, the Eberstadt swimming pool is open again
The Mühltal outdoor swimming pool in Darmstadt-Eberstadt reopened on Sunday, August 9, 2026. Following extensive renovations and two canceled seasons, the city reports a positive outcome after the first day of operation. Weather permitting, the season is planned to extend beyond mid-September.
The long-established outdoor swimming pool was closed for renovations in 2024 and 2025. According to the city, many visitors were therefore delighted with its reopening. The first day of operation was safe and orderly.
"The reopening of the Mühltalbad is a strong signal for Eberstadt and all of Darmstadt," explains Mayor Hanno Benz. The first day of swimming showed how much joy there is that the traditional pool is open again. Many people embraced the revamped facilities with visible enthusiasm.
The facility is being further completed
With the modernized Mühltalbad, the people of Eberstadt, Darmstadt, and the surrounding region once again have access to an outdoor swimming pool for sports, leisure, and recreation. According to the city, the positive response at the opening also demonstrates how deeply the pool is integrated into the community.
The work is not entirely finished with the reopening. The facility will be gradually completed and further optimized in the coming months with a view to the 2027 outdoor swimming season.
The current season could also last longer than initially planned. Weather permitting, the city intends to keep the Mühltalbad open beyond mid-September 2026.
