44 members will represent the interests of young people in Darmstadt in the future
The members of the new youth assembly of the science city of Darmstadt have been selected. All Darmstadt residents aged 12 to 17 to cast their votes September 26th 37 candidates applied 25 elected positions .
Mayor Barbara Akdeniz emphasizes:
"I congratulate all members of the first Darmstadt Youth Parliament and look forward to constructive cooperation. The fact that young people are interested in participating in the development of the city and its districts is a very good sign for the city, demonstrating a willingness to engage in civic activities and promoting democracy."
In the future, the youth plenary will represent the interests of young people to politicians and administrators and is intended to be a strong voice for young people in Darmstadt.
Elected and randomly selected members
In addition to the 25 elected members, 17 more young people added through a lottery system. For this purpose, Darmstadt was divided into ten social districts ; two people were drawn from each district. Lottery boxes were set up in 18 youth centers . This procedure is designed to ensure that young people from all parts of the city are represented in the youth assembly.

In addition, the city student council two representatives who were elected at its general assembly on September 24th.
The new youth plenary consists of a total of 44 members , representing all age groups from 12 to 17 years .
Term of office and support
The inaugural meeting of the Youth Plenary will take place in November 2025. Its term of office will run until the beginning of 2028. The
work of the body will be supported by the Youth Plenary Coordination Office , which is jointly run by the Darmstadt Youth Council and the Youth Education Center of the Youth Welfare Office .
