44 members will represent the interests of young people in Darmstadt
The members of the new Youth Council of the Science City of Darmstadt All 12- to 17-year-olds in Darmstadt to cast their votes until September 26. A total of 37 candidates 25 elected positions .
Mayor Barbara Akdeniz emphasizes:
"I congratulate all members of the first Darmstadt Youth Plenum and look forward to constructive cooperation. The fact that young people are interested in participating in the development of the city and its neighborhoods is a very positive signal for the city, their willingness to engage in civic activities, and the promotion of democracy."
In the future, the Youth Plenum will represent the interests of young people to politicians and administrators and will be a strong voice for young people in Darmstadt.
Elected and randomly selected members
In addition to the 25 elected members, 17 additional young people will be elected through a lottery . For this purpose, Darmstadt was divided into ten social areas , with two people selected from each area. Lottery boxes were available in 18 youth centers . This process is intended to ensure that young people from all parts of the city are represented in the youth plenary.

In total, the new youth plenum consists of 44 members , representing all age groups from 12 to 17 years .
Term of office and support
The constitutive meeting of the Youth Plenum will take place in November 2025. The term of office runs until the beginning of 2028. The
work of the committee is supported by the Youth Plenum Coordination Office , which is jointly funded by the Jugendring Darmstadt eV and the Youth Education Center of the Youth Welfare Office .
