Nicola Raab received coveted prizes for her work: her staging of Written on Skin for the Teatro Comunale Bolzano was awarded the "Premio Franco Abbiati" by the guild of Italian music critics in 2016. In 2013 she received the Arets Reumert Prize for the best Danish opera production for Otello at the Royal Danish Opera in Copenhagen.
“Working with a fixed singer ensemble, shaping the season and having a place where 30 years of experience as a freelance music theater director can flow together. I am particularly pleased to be able to work with wonderful people in this great theater building every day, ”says Nicola Raab about her new task as an opera director in Darmstadt.
“Nicola Raab staged from Finland to Portugal in many opera houses in Europe, in Moscow, Chicago, Los Angeles and Mexico City. She is an exciting director and will continue to show it in Darmstadt and in other places. I find your wide international experience horizon, your flair and your large network incredibly valuable for a diverse, exciting music theater at the Darmstadt State Theater and for a contemporary development of the theater structures, ”says Karsten Wiegand, director of the Darmstadt State Theater.
