Hiking, competition and community: Odenwald Club Groß-Gerau crowns new bowling champions
Groß-Gerau. A good atmosphere, sporting ambition, and convivial moments characterized the recent meeting of the bowling group of the Odenwald Club (OWK) Groß-Gerau . Last year's bowling champions, Beate Bolbach and Reiner Dietz, hike from Nauheim to Groß-Gerau – and the motto, true to OWK tradition, was: exercise, community, and fun.
The route led along the railway embankment with a rest stop where the hikers were surprised with a hearty snack – including sausage, bread rolls, and a good drink. Afterwards, they went to the Albert-Faulstroh-Halle , where the bowling balls rolled energetically across the track.
Two strikes from Marlis Bebensee and Rosel Wolk , as well as a perfect score from Daniela Knorn, sparked jubilation. After a fair competition, Ute Rauch the trophies to the best OWK bowlers.
Bowling Championship Results:
- Women: 1st place Beate Bolbach (74 pins), 2nd place Karola Kunz (64), 3rd place Angela Sawinski and Traudel Klärner (60 each)
- Men: 1st place Friedel Kunz (75 pins), 2nd place Reiner Dietz (73), 3rd place Heinz Pitzer and Helmut Klinger (60 each)
- Overall trophy: Friedel Kunz
20 OWK bowlers enjoyed Meteora restaurant before one group hiked back to Nauheim on foot – while others took the public bus in a relaxed manner.
