From April 1st, new regulations apply to citizens, hunters and farmers
The Groß-Gerau district has published a new general order for the measures against the African Swine plague (ASP). From April 1, 2025, loosening will apply, which affect both the core zone and the restricted zone 2. The district thus follows the requirements of the State of Hesse announced at the beginning of March.
"Our well-coordinated measures since the ASP outbreak in June 2024 have had an effect and are now enabling a gradual return to normal," said Adil Oyan, the first district deputy. At the same time, he pointed out that the full elimination of the animal disease could still take years.
Relaxation for citizens
For forest visitors, the path and the leash for dogs are now eliminated. Event bans in the outdoor area and the ban on fireworks are also lifted. Dog owners are nevertheless asked to observe the applicable regulations on the breeding and setting time.
Hunting allowed again - with restrictions
The hunt for wild boar, red, dam and roe deer is possible again as part of the current gentle times- with the exception of a area between the Rhine and the fence. A launch premium of 200 euros per wild boar is paid for further reduction in the wild boar stock. However, the carcasses must not be marketed, only up to five animals per year and hunter household are permitted for their own use.
The permission to hunting is based on the construction of numerous fences that prevent a scattering of infected animals in other areas.
Agriculture: drone flights only necessary selectively
There is also relief in agriculture. In the future, drone flights to control wild boars or carcasses will only be mandatory in the area between the Rhine and the fence. This measure can be dispensed with in the rest of the district.
Forestry can resume care work
The new regulation also means relief for the forest. Necessary forest care work is possible again. "In the past few months, our focus was on fence construction and carolvanization. Now we can finally devote ourselves to the actual fortress work again," said Klaus Valbecker, head of the Groß-Gerau forestry forest.
