The first measures of the new playground concept are starting in Goddelau and Crumstadt
The town of Büchner is beginning to implement its new playground concept for the years 2025 to 2029. The goal is to specifically improve the use and equipment of playgrounds and adapt them to the actual needs of children and families in the town's districts. The first concrete measures will affect the districts of Goddelau and Crumstadt .
The focus is initially on the playground on Konrad-Adenauer-Straße in Goddelau , which will no longer be used as a playground. During an inspection, the playground working group determined that this location is rarely visited. Children prefer the nearby playgrounds in the Volkspark or the adjacent park. However, the area will remain as a green space.
The existing playground equipment will not be disposed of, but reused at other locations . The first to be moved is the climbing structure with a slide , which will be installed at the Katharina-von-Bora-Straße playground in Crumstadt . There, it will replace a dilapidated wooden ship that was badly damaged by a fungal infestation.
Participation from all city districts
The concept is based on a comprehensive inventory: Last year, a city-wide working group, "Riedstadt Playgrounds," was established by unanimous decision of the city council. Subgroups were formed in each district, and together with a member of the municipal works department, they analyzed the playgrounds using an evaluation form.
The composition of the groups ensured diverse perspectives: representatives of the city council, educators, staff from the youth office, and five to six parents per group participated. Families in Riedstadt had previously been invited to participate through daycare centers and schools.
The resulting playground concept for 2025–2029 now forms the basis for the long-term development of play areas in the city. Further redesigns and measures are being planned.
