Pictures from the game: The Lilies remain undefeated in the far north
SV Darmstadt 98 continued its strong run, remaining unbeaten in its fourth consecutive match. The Lilies earned a well-deserved 1-1 draw (0-0) against Bundesliga relegated side Holstein Kiel, taking another point into the international break. Isaac Lidberg, in particular, once again demonstrated his goal-scoring prowess – the Swede put the South Hesse side in the lead after the break.
In the opening minutes, Darmstadt struggled on the Kiel Fjord. The hosts started off aggressively and had their first good opportunity after just eight minutes. However, as the game progressed, the Lilies stabilized and kept the game even. Both teams remained goalless until halftime, although Kiel had two dangerous shots on goal from Kapralik and Tolkin.
After the break, the game picked up pace. Marco Richter narrowly missed the Kiel goal (47th minute), before goalkeeper Marcel Schuhen pulled off a brilliant save at the other end (50th minute). Shortly afterward, it was Isac Lidberg who once again brought joy to the traveling fans: With a precise shot into the far corner, the striker scored the 1-0 for Darmstadt in the 54th minute.
The joy didn't last long, however. In the 65th minute, Kiel's Zec scored a spectacular equalizer after a cross from Bernhardsson. Both teams sought a decisive goal in the closing stages, but Schuhen prevented a late deficit with a strong save in the 90th minute.
In the end, the Lilies took home a point, confirming the positive trend under coach Florian Kohfeldt. With 17 points after eight matches, the league leaders from South Hesse enter the international break with confidence.
