Hit-and-run, property damage, and a break-in at a cigarette machine
A hit-and-run accident near Worfelden, damaged vehicles in Groß-Gerau, and a broken-into cigarette machine in Darmstadt are keeping police busy. Witnesses are urgently sought in all cases.
Hit-and-run: Scooter rider crashes near Worfelden
On Friday evening (January 3rd), an accident involving a hit-and-run occurred on county road 164 between Worfelden and federal highway 44. A driver overtook a vehicle and failed to see an oncoming scooter. The scooter rider swerved to avoid a collision and fell, along with his passenger. While the driver sustained minor injuries, the passenger was unharmed. Both vehicles continued driving without stopping. Anyone with information regarding the driver responsible for the accident is asked to contact the Groß-Gerau police station.
Several wing mirrors damaged in Groß-Gerau
Sometime during the night of Sunday, January 5th, unknown individuals damaged five parked vehicles on August-Bebel-Straße in Groß-Gerau. The perpetrators destroyed the right-hand side mirrors of each car, presumably as they walked by. The damage is estimated at several hundred euros. Anyone with information regarding the vandalism is asked to contact the Groß-Gerau police station.
Cigarette machine broken into in Darmstadt
On Monday evening (January 6), three youths dressed in dark clothing blew up a cigarette machine on Klausenburger Straße in the Heimstättensiedlung housing estate in Darmstadt, presumably using fireworks. After the explosion, they stole cigarettes and cash and fled in the direction of Heimstättenweg/Am Kaiserschlag. The machine was severely damaged; the extent of the damage and the value of the stolen goods are not yet known. A police search has so far been unsuccessful. The Darmstadt Criminal Investigation Department is asking witnesses to come forward, especially if they made any suspicious observations in the Heimstättensiedlung area between 5:00 p.m. and 7:00 p.m.
In all cases, the police are hoping for information from the public.
