Music from synagogue, church and Islamic world at the interreligious evening on October 27th at the Jewish community in Darmstadt
Under the title "Religious Soundscapes – Music from Synagogue, Church and Mosque," the Interreligious Forum (IRF) in the Darmstadt-Dieburg district invites you to a musical evening in Darmstadt on Tuesday, October 27, 2026. The event begins at 7 p.m. in the community center of the Jewish Community of Darmstadt at Wilhelm-Glässing-Straße 26.
The focus is on the musical traditions of various religions. Visitors gain insights into the significance of music in Judaism, Christianity, and Islam. Short introductions explain the role that the respective sounds and chants play within these religious communities.
Music from three religious traditions
The program features performances by Benny Maroko, cantor of the Jewish community of Darmstadt, and the Michelschor choir from Reichelsheim, conducted by Matthias Ernst. Music from the Islamic world will also be performed.
The evening will present the diverse musical expressions of religions, highlighting both their similarities and differences. The combination of music and explanations offers an opportunity to experience religious traditions from a different perspective.
