Act sustainably: Repair instead of throwing away and conserve resources
Darmstadt-Eberstadt. Under the motto "Repair instead of discard," the Eberstadt Repair Café will open its doors for the 36th time on Saturday, November 8, 2025 , from 2 p.m. to 5 p.m. New this year is a presentation of modern 3D printing technology , demonstrating how spare parts or small everyday helpers can be manufactured on site.
Voluntary commitment to sustainability
At the Repair Café, volunteer repairers fix broken devices – from vacuum cleaners and printers to clothing , small furniture, and bicycles . Tools and materials are available to help visitors with their repairs. This helps reduce waste , protects the environment , and promotes sustainable consumption . Foodsharing Darmstadt e.V. also participates , providing rescued food.
3D printing technology in practical use
For the first time, the Repair Café is presenting the possibilities of 3D printing . Expert advisors will explain the technology and demonstrate on-site how spare parts and everyday items can be produced.
Meeting, coffee and cake
Dedicated bakers from the neighborhood café create a cozy atmosphere and offer coffee, tea, and mineral water. The repair café is not only a workshop but also a meeting place for people from diverse cultural backgrounds – contributing to social cohesion in Eberstadt .
Cooperation and location
The Repair Café is a collaboration between the Eberstadt Senior Network , the City of Darmstadt , Werkhof Darmstadt e.V. (with the Nala project ), and the Caritas Center Eberstadt South . It takes place at the Werkhof Darmstadt e.V. premises , Grenzallee 4–6, 64297 Darmstadt . Donations to support the work are welcome. Volunteer helpers and repair specialists are needed to strengthen the team .
