Volunteers offer excursions for elderly people in Riedstadt
The new season of volunteer-run rickshaw rides has started in Riedstadt and Stockstadt am Rhein. The advisory center for senior citizens is once again offering free excursions in an electrically assisted bicycle rickshaw.
Joint excursions with panoramic views
Passengers sit comfortably on a bench at the front and can enjoy the scenery during the ride. This service is aimed particularly at people who are no longer able to cycle themselves due to health reasons.
Whether a short stroll through the village, a trip to the countryside or a visit to the ice cream parlor – the focus is on shared experiences and the joy of exercising in the fresh air.
Volunteer work in focus
The rides are organized and carried out by dedicated volunteer rickshaw drivers. The service is free for passengers, but donations are welcome.
Nicole Novak, coordinator of the "Breathing Space" program at the counseling center, anticipates high demand in the coming months. Numerous outings were already made possible last year.
New pilots wanted
The advice center welcomes additional volunteers who would like to become rickshaw drivers. Driver training and individual scheduling of excursions are also possible.
