Events in November and participation activities for the partridge count in the Groß-Gerau district
The Groß-Gerau District Landscape Conservation Association (LPV) is hosting several events this fall. In addition to an information session on the nationwide project "Save the Partridge – Promote Diversity!", there will also be a popular fruit tree pruning course in November. The association is also calling for participation in the current partridge chain count and providing information about the "Bird of the Year 2026" election.
Information event “Save the Partridge – Promote Diversity!”
On Saturday, November 8, 2025 , from 12 p.m. to 3 p.m., the LPV will present the current status of the partridge project in the Hessian Ried at an information event. In addition to expert information, there will be an opportunity to exchange ideas over refreshments and food.

Fruit tree pruning course in Riedstadt-Leeheim
On Saturday, November 15, 2025 fruit tree pruning course will take place in Riedstadt-Leeheim . NABU Ried is providing its orchard meadow for the course. Jan Heimer (Team Astwerk) will once again be the course leader.
- Costs: 40 euros (non-members) / 20 euros (members of the LPV or member associations)
- Number of participants: max. 15 people
- Contents: Theory, practical demonstrations and exercises (focus on maintenance cutting)

The event can be cancelled at short notice in case of bad weather.
Participate in the partridge chain count
The so-called chain count until October 10, 2025. It documents partridge family groups in autumn and winter. The observations provide valuable insights into the breeding success of these threatened farmland birds.
Reports can be submitted directly at ornitho.de or via the NaturaList app. Alternatively, the LPV provides a reporting form on its website .
Election of Bird of the Year 2026
The partridge is also a candidate for "Bird of the Year 2026." Interested parties can cast their votes until October 9, 2025. Information and rankings are available at vogeldesjahres.de .
