Klötzner relies on direct exchange with schools
Since taking office, School Superintendent Holger Klötzner has regularly visited schools in the science city of Darmstadt. The "School Superintendent on Site" initiative is now in its fifth year and aims to strengthen direct dialogue between the city administration, school principals, teachers, and students.
Discussions with schools and student representatives
During his visits, Klötzner learns about current developments, challenges, and successful projects at the schools. The involvement of student representatives is particularly important in this process.
“We want to take the students’ perspective particularly seriously,” explains the school superintendent. They experience everyday school life directly and often have concrete ideas about how learning and community life at their school could be improved.
Over 100 appointments at Darmstadt schools
The visits include meetings with school principals, tours of school buildings, and school-type-specific program elements. These include, for example, reading sessions at primary schools or discussion rounds with older students on topics such as democracy, Europe, or career prospects.
more than 100 meetings have already taken place as part of the "School Superintendent on Site" program. Further visits are planned for this year.
New program “Head of Education for a Day”
"Head of Education for a Day" program this year . This program involves an annual role reversal between the head of education and a school or childcare center director to gain a better understanding of each other's daily work routines.
Schools also view the initiative positively. For example, headmistress Corinna Orth-Mohr described Klötzner's visit as a special event that opened up new perspectives and motivated further cooperation.
