Kirche & Co. is collecting school bags and monetary donations for needy children in Darmstadt
With its "School Backpack Campaign," the ecumenical church shop Kirche & Co. in Darmstadt is once again calling for support for low-income families. Until July 10th , they are collecting well-preserved school backpacks and monetary donations to ensure children have the smoothest possible start to the new school year.
Many families face significant financial challenges at the start of the school year. With this fundraising campaign, Kirche & Co. aims to help reduce the costs of school bags and supplies while simultaneously demonstrating solidarity and sustainability.
Well-preserved school bags and monetary donations can be dropped off at the church shop Kirche & Co., An der Stadtkirche 1 , from Monday to Friday from 10 am to 1 pm and additionally on Tuesdays until 5 pm .
Distribution of school bags from the end of July
The donated school backpacks will be distributed from July 27th to August 7th in cooperation with Diakonie, Caritas, daycare centers and church parishes. Children from refugee families will also benefit from the initiative.
Thanks to the financial support of the Liridadi Foundation, which is run by the Diakonie Hessen Foundation, as well as other monetary donations, first-grade students also receive a basic set of school supplies.
“The ‘School Backpack Campaign’ is a sign of solidarity and a contribution to the responsible use of resources,” says Maren Dettmers, full-time Protestant employee of Kirche & Co. Andrea Bach, Catholic employee of the church shop, adds: “The church shop looks forward to many donations and thanks everyone who supports this campaign.”
Anyone who would like to donate a well-preserved school bag or money can help make it easier for children from financially disadvantaged families to start school.
